Drug & Alcohol Rehab Stroud

Detox is the first and perhaps most challenging step in drug or alcohol rehabilitation.

It takes a lot of dedication to let go of something you are strongly attached to.

For a long period of time, you have been using this substance to make yourself feel better or to cope with life’s hardships.

You may even be using it just to feel normal, so that you can function on a daily basis without losing focus or feeling ill.

At Abbeycare, we offer a detox program that leads you gently towards the road to drug and alcohol addiction recovery.

Some withdrawal symptoms can be serious, and are hard to deal with alone.

With our structured inpatient program, we will give you medication to ease the discomfort.

Our addiction specialist staff will be present to provide you 24/7 care, serving locations throughout the country.

How To Get Into Rehab

To inquire about Abbeycare, please dial direct on 01603 513 091.

You will be instantly connected to our admissions team. Unlike other places that give you a number to call, we are not a referral service.

We value your time and your effort, and we won’t keep you waiting.

It took a lot of courage just to dial the number. We guarantee that your concerns will be heard.

During the initial call, you can talk to us about your concerns about detox, pricing, accommodation, and so on. Feel free to ask us anything about our services.

Once the initial call and assessment is done, you should be on our way to our clinic within 24 to 48 hours.

A Personalised & Structured Rehab Treatment Approach

We devise a personalised structured programme for you. We firmly believe that addiction is experienced differently by every individual.

The benefits of a personalised care plan include:

Helping you identify your strengths, so that we can capitalise on them in the therapy program

Knowing your thinking and feeling style (important in choosing therapy interventions)

In-depth understanding of your triggers and your relapse indicators

A deeper understanding of the motives of addictive behaviour

We believe that knowing you in a more detailed way will help us become effective in therapy.

We also believe that if you commit yourself to understand yourself better, drug or alcohol rehab becomes a meaningful endeavour.

At Abbeycare, we provide a solid and structured rehabilitation program so that you can have the essential skills for your recovery toolkit.

Upon admission, your Case Manager will walk you through the whole process of rehab.

From detox to therapy proper, to aftercare, we will ensure that your experience will be tailored to your needs.

What Happens In Detox & Rehab

The detox part of treatment is usually rough, especially for the first few days.

Generally, there are three stages of Detox:

During stage 1 (within 8 hours) you can experience: Sleeplessness, stomach upsets, nausea, migraines

During Stage 2 (first three days): Blood pressure may rise, possibility of fever

During Stage 3 (a week after): feeling agitated or irritable. Some people who have severe alcohol or drug withdrawal may have hallucinations, DT (Delirium Tremens), or Grand Mal seizures.

Some people will have lasting withdrawal after-effects for a longer period of time (if the symptoms are not given medical attention)

We don’t advise doing detox alone. It is not only dangerous, it feels awful to be alone without anyone to lean on.

At our clinic, there will be people you can approach if you feel sick, and if you can’t seem to function. Twenty-four hours a day, all days of the year, we are on call.

We understand that everybody’s communication style is unique.

Our staff members are aware that you may have difficulty communicating what you need—sometimes, you don’t even acknowledge your needs.

Yes, sometimes this means you can be “out of control”, and that is an acceptable part of the journey.

Our staff members are experts at discerning what you mean to say even if you have difficulty saying it.

Rehab Treatment Flow

Our centre is close to Stroud. After you settle in your room, we will conduct a short assessment before we commence detox.

You’ll complete some medical checks. We begin detox as soon as possible thereafter.

We want to make sure that you have the right medicines to make withdrawal less of a pain.

It is very important that we get the dosage and medication right, as we don’t want you to feel worse than you are already feeling.

After about a week, you should be ready to join more activities in the centre. Your last week in rehab means we will devise a rehab aftercare plan.

We want you to continue living sober after rehab, it is best to be prepared for the big changes that are going to take place now that you have begun the recovery process.

Rehab Aftercare

We help you stay on track after rehab by making sure you have help in:

  • Knowing what to do with drug and alcohol cravings
  • Dealing with stressors
  • Identifying relapse triggers
  • Getting back after minor slips
  • Recognizing addiction “enablers”

We rigorously plan your follow-up consultations and future meetings in support groups. We also make sure that we are available if you need any more help after treatment.
