Marie McGuire – Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
I was employed within social work services for 30 years, the last 12 years of which were within Glasgow Addiction Servces where I was resonsible for the management and practice of a specialist team that provided addiction interventions and recovery support to individuals and families. I studied Drugs and Alcohol: Policy and Intervention at Glasgow University and Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) at Miami University. I qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) in 2004 and have tutored on the same CBT hons degree course in Glasgow for 7 years. I also practice as a CBT counsellor and supervisor. I am currently undertaking a diploma in Training and Development and I am a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists.
I have had the privilege of witnessing individuals making significant change in their lives and realise goals that they had considered beyond them. We all need support, love and care – when we are able to provide these things for ourselves then everyone around us benefits and anything is possible.
