The Healthcare Team at Abbeycare

Jane Dudgeon BSC, RD, Adv. Dip. Diet Practice (Dietician)

Good nutrition is an essential part of the Abbeycare programme, helping the body to deal with detox, aid recovery and improve mood. As well as receiving nutritious meals and snacks throughout the programme, you can speak to a Dietician if you require specific advice on any aspect of your diet.

I have worked as a Dietician for the past 16 years and is registered with the Health Professions Council, ensuring competency to practice and up-to-date knowledge and skills are maintained.

As well as working in the NHS since qualifying, I have worked on a freelance basis for the past 5 years. This involves working with clients on a one-to-one basis, or in groups, advising on nutritional issues such as healthy eating, weight loss, weight gain, eating disorders, Diabetes, cancer, food intolerances and artificial nutrition support. I also have experience as a lecturer in nutrition.

My role at Abbeycare is to individually assess nutritional status, take a detailed dietary history and agree short and long term nutritional goals based on this assessment. Advice is specifically tailored to your individual requirement, situation and current nutritional status, relevant to the Abbeycare programme , and ultimately aims to maximise health and well being whilst at Abbeycare, and for the future.

Alexandra Tracy

Alexandra Tracey. Stress Management Therapist

I have recently joined, the team, at Abbeycare Foundation. I began working as a Relief Support Worker and then another post became available for a Holistic Therapist. Working both jobs can be beneficial, enabling the clients and me, the opportunity to get to know one another, before, becoming their therapist.

All the staff at Abbeycare, have been, very kind and supportive, welcoming me into their team, to which I am immensely grateful.

I worked in, child care, for around ten years, as a support worker in a day unit, for twelve to sixteen year olds. I loved my job and planned to be a, Social Worker. Then disaster struck, when, drug addiction, affected, my own family. I had to take almost a year out of work and decided, during my time out, on a career change. I studied for three years, gaining a Diploma in Holistic Therapies, Diploma in Reflexology and a Diploma in Stress Management with Health Care. I worked in the local community, for the, Healthy Living centre, as a, Stress Management Therapist, until the funding ran out.

I love spending time with my, two, Grandchildren and also my, year old, Akita dog. My hobbies are, power walking, movies, reading, golfing and socialising with friends.

My goal for 2011 is trekking the Canadian Rockies for the Ayrshire Hospice.
